Job Purpose

The Swimming Coach is responsible for planning, delivering, and supervising swimming lessons and training programs for students of varying ages and skill levels.

The role focuses on developing swimming techniques, promoting water safety, fostering sportsmanship, and preparing students for school competitions and events.

Key Responsibilitiescoaching & Instruction

  • Plan and deliver engaging swimming lessons and training sessions for students of different age groups and abilities.
  • Teach and develop swimming techniques, strokes, starts, turns, and finishes.
  • Assess students' swimming abilities and provide individualized coaching to support progress.
  • Encourage student participation, confidence, discipline, and teamwork.
  • Prepare students for internal and external swimming competitions.

Student Development

  • Monitor and evaluate student performance and progress.
  • Provide constructive feedback to students and communicate progress with parents when required.
  • Identify talented swimmers and support their development through advanced training programs.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles, fitness, and sportsmanship.

Safety & Supervision

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during swimming activities.
  • Enforce pool rules, safety procedures, and emergency protocols at all times.
  • Conduct risk assessments and report any hazards or incidents promptly.
  • Maintain appropriate supervision ratios during lessons and events.
  • Ensure all swimming equipment is used safely and stored properly.

Competition & Event Management

  • Organize and supervise school swimming teams and competitions.
  • Coordinate participation in inter-school swimming meets and tournaments.
  • Assist in organizing swimming events, galas, and sports days.
  • Maintain records of student achievements and competition results.

Administration & Collaboration

  • Maintain attendance records and training schedules.
  • Collaborate with PE teachers, school leadership, and parents to support student development.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, professional development activities, and school events.
  • Support the school's extracurricular sports program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Coaching, or a related field (preferred).
  • Recognized Swimming Coaching Certification.
  • Valid Lifeguard and First Aid/CPR certification (preferred or required based on local regulations).

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of swimming coaching experience, preferably in a school, club, or academy environment.
  • Experience coaching students across different age groups and ability levels.
  • Experience preparing swimmers for competitions is an advantage.
