Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Head of English Department role based in Dubai.
The Head of English will lead the English department, overseeing curriculum planning, assessment, and teaching standards across relevant grade levels.
Responsibilities include mentoring and supporting English teachers, coordinating department meetings, and ensuring consistent, high-quality classroom practice.
The role involves analyzing student data to drive improvement, implementing effective interventions, and promoting a strong reading and writing culture across the school.
The Head of English will collaborate with senior leadership on whole-school initiatives, manage departmental resources, and maintain clear communication with colleagues, students, and families.
Qualifications
- Proven expertise in English Teaching and English Literature, with strong subject knowledge across key stages or grade levels.
- Status as a Qualified Teacher with appropriate teaching credentials and a track record of successful classroom practice.
- Experience in Curriculum Development for English, including planning schemes of work, assessments, and enrichment activities.
- Background in Education, with an understanding of contemporary pedagogy, assessment practices, and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, ideally in a departmental or middle leadership role, with the ability to coach and develop staff.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural school environment.
- Experience in international or bilingual schools is an advantage; familiarity with UK, IB, or similar curricula is beneficial.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field required; a relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred.
