The Supplier Development Engineer will strengthen the supply chain and support Howden product development and export projects.
The role includes work across casting, machining, fabrication, and FRP manufacturing, with hands-on exposure to FRP fan blades in manufacturing facilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and qualify suppliers for castings, machining, and fabrication components.
- Develop FRP products and oversee their quality at the Chennai factory.
- Drive APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and process validation at suppliers and in the factory.
- Support new product development and prototype readiness.
- Conduct supplier audits and drive continuous improvement.
- Improve supplier performance in quality, delivery, and cost.
- Support export projects, customer audits, and compliance requirements.
Experience and qualifications
- 5–8 years of experience in supplier quality, supplier development, or manufacturing.
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong knowledge of casting, machining, fabrication, and FRP/composites.
- Hands-on experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and root cause analysis using 8D/5 Why.
- Exposure to FRP blade manufacturing, molding, curing, and inspection is preferred.
- A background in heavy engineering or rotating equipment is a plus.
