A Steel Foreman on high-rise building projects in Dubai directs the daily operations of steel fixers and erectors.
Responsibilities
include reading complex structural drawings, managing rebar installation, and ensuring strict compliance with Dubai Municipality safety codes to meet tight, multi-story construction schedules.
Core Responsibilities
- **Site Supervision:**
- Coordinate daily activities of steel fixers and riggers.
- Ensure all cutting, bending, and tying of rebar aligns with approved shop drawings and structural engineer specifications.
- **Quality Control:**
- Conduct routine checks on steel reinforcements, verticality, and structural alignments before concrete casting.
- **Resource & Manpower Management:**
- Manage crew attendance, allocate daily tasks, and coordinate heavy machinery operations (e.g., tower cranes) for safe steel hoisting.
- **Safety & Compliance:**
- Enforce strict workplace safety protocols and ensure all work meets the regulations of the Dubai Municipality and UAE federal safety standards.
- **Reporting:**
- Maintain daily progress logs, track material consumption, and proactively report structural delays or site risks to the Project Manager.
Key Requirements
- **Experience:**
- Typically 5 to 10+ years in the UAE construction industry, with at least 3 years explicitly focused on high-rise towers.
- **Technical Skills:**
- High proficiency in reading structural layouts, Bar Bending Schedules (BBS), and General Arrangement (GA) drawings.
- **Certifications:**
- Diploma in Civil Engineering or related trade certifications (often preferred for complex projects).
- **Soft Skills:**
- Strong leadership, ability to manage multicultural labor teams, and proficiency in English (Arabic and Hindi/Urdu are strong assets for on-site communication).
