Develop and plan precise engineering drawings and sketches using AutoCAD.
Prepare product depictions, production and shop drawings, and as-built drawings based on site measurements and project coordination.
Responsibilities and workflow
- Study project scope and specific requirements.
- Create scaled engineering and design drawings and prepare mechanical/electrical shop drawings according to engineer guidelines.
- Develop electro-mechanical external and combined-services layouts; revise drawings and prepare builder's work drawings based on engineering feedback.
- Deliver final as-built drawings using site measurements; maintain organized backups of marked checkpoints and correct errors.
- Review drawings at multiple stages and collaborate with construction and engineering staff; perform additional technical duties assigned by the Design Engineer.
Qualifications and skills
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Draftsman or Senior Draftsman in construction or engineering.
- Expert-level proficiency in AutoCAD and other computer-aided design applications.
- Strong understanding of electro-mechanical systems, shop drawings, and coordinated combined-services layouts.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering specifications, IFC drawings, and RFI data.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with site engineers and construction staff; attention to detail and organization for document control.
