Sr BI Developer

Role Overview

Power BI Development and Reporting

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise Power BI reports, dashboards, and analytical solutions.
• Create interactive visualizations, reusable reporting components, and standards aligned with business requirements.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into scalable technical solutions.

Semantic Modeling and DAX

• Design semantic models with relationships, hierarchies, calculated columns, and measures.
• Apply dimensional modeling principles and create consistent business metrics for multiple reports.
• Develop and optimize complex DAX measures, time-intelligence calculations, KPIs, and aggregations.

Security and Integration

• Implement Row-Level Security and role-based access models across Power BI datasets and reports.
• Develop Power BI solutions using Databricks SQL Warehouse as a data source.
• Choose and optimize DirectQuery or Import connectivity based on performance, freshness, scalability, and user experience.
• Collaborate with data engineers to optimize Databricks structures for BI consumption.

Performance and Architecture

• Diagnose and optimize report, semantic model, DAX, query, visualization, and connectivity performance.
• Design reporting architectures for operational users, management, senior leadership, and executives.
• Establish standards for modeling, security, performance, deployment, and governance.

Stakeholder Collaboration

• Work with stakeholders, analysts, data engineers, architects, and leadership teams to clarify requirements.
• Present dashboards and analytical insights and support reporting and data issue resolution.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to other BI developers.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong hands-on experience as a Power BI Developer or Senior BI Developer in enterprise production environments.
• Strong Power BI semantic modeling expertise and advanced DAX proficiency.
• Experience implementing Row-Level Security and tuning Power BI performance.
• Hands-on experience integrating Power BI with Databricks SQL Warehouse.
• Understanding of DirectQuery and Import architecture decisions.
• Experience with reporting architectures, dimensional modeling, enterprise dashboards, KPIs, and analytical solutions.
• Strong SQL skills and experience troubleshooting data, model, DAX, connectivity, and report-performance issues.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with executive and board-level reporting or C-level and senior leadership audiences.
• Experience with Power BI Deployment Pipelines and enterprise release processes.
• Experience with Unity Catalog, Power BI administration, workspace governance, Azure data services, or enterprise BI governance.
• Experience with large-scale multi-division deployments, high-concurrency environments, or data lake and lakehouse integrations.
