Solution Architect

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the end-to-end architecture for e-commerce applications across frontend, backend, APIs, integrations, and cloud infrastructure.
• Design scalable and highly available solutions using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and React.
• Define frontend architecture and best practices using React, TypeScript, state management, and reusable components.
• Design cloud-native solutions on GCP, considering scalability, reliability, security, performance, and cost optimization.
• Work with engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Define architecture standards, design patterns, coding standards, and technology guidelines.
• Review technical designs, architecture decisions, and implementation approaches.
• Identify technical risks, dependencies, and potential scalability or performance issues.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to developers, leads, and engineering teams.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams on CI/CD, infrastructure, observability, monitoring, and deployment strategies.
• Ensure solutions follow security, compliance, and enterprise architecture standards.
• Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions that improve engineering productivity and application capabilities.

Technical Skills

• Backend: Java 11/17+, Spring Boot / Spring Framework, Microservices architecture, REST APIs, Event-driven architecture, Kafka or similar messaging platforms, Distributed systems and caching.
• Frontend: React, TypeScript / JavaScript, React-based application architecture, State management, Responsive and reusable UI architecture, Frontend performance optimization.
• Cloud - GCP: Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, GKE / Kubernetes, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, API Gateway / Apigee, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL / Spanner, Cloud Storage, IAM and security, Cloud Load Balancing, Monitoring and Logging, VPC and networking, Cloud-native architecture and cost
• DevOps & Engineering: GitHub / Git, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code preferably Terraform, Automated testing, Observability and application monitoring.

E-commerce Experience

• Strong experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred: Product catalog, Search, Pricing and promotions, Cart and checkout, Order management, Payment integrations, Inventory, Customer/account management, Personalization, Store and e-commerce integrations, Third-party integrations, High

Architecture & Leadership

• Strong understanding of domain-driven design (DDD) and microservices.
• Experience designing high-volume, low-latency distributed systems.
• Strong understanding of API design and integration patterns.
• Experience with scalability, resilience, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.
• Ability to make architecture decisions considering performance, maintainability, security, and cost.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work with senior engineering and business stakeholders and clearly communicate complex technical concepts.
• Experience mentoring technical leads and senior engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with 5+ years in an Architect/Senior Architect role.
• Experience architecting large-scale e-commerce platforms.
• Strong combination of Java + React + GCP experience.
• GCP certification is a plus.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Experience working with distributed/global engineering teams.
