Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Specialist Poison Control role based in Doha, Qatar.

The Specialist Poison Control will respond to poison-related inquiries from healthcare professionals, emergency services, and the public, providing evidence-based guidance on assessment, treatment, and follow-up.

The role includes triaging calls, collecting detailed exposure histories, evaluating clinical risk, and recommending appropriate interventions and monitoring plans.

The specialist will maintain accurate documentation, support toxicology case reviews, and contribute to internal protocols and reference materials.

Day-to-day responsibilities also involve collaborating with clinical teams, participating in training and drills, supporting public health and safety initiatives, and engaging in ongoing education to stay current with toxicology and poisoning management guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Clinical background in medicine, pharmacy, nursing, toxicology, or a related health profession, with experience in emergency, critical care, or acute care settings preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of toxicology principles, common poisons, medications, and chemical exposures, with the ability to interpret clinical data and risk factors.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to provide calm, clear, and concise guidance by phone to individuals in stressful or emergency situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to document cases accurately, follow protocols, and use clinical decision-support tools and medical databases.
  • High attention to detail, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to prioritize multiple cases in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, patient safety, and adherence to ethical and regulatory standards.
  • Ability to work in shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as service needs require.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field; specialized training or certification in poison control or medical toxicology is an advantage.
  • Experience working in a poison control center, emergency call center, or similar environment is highly beneficial.
  • Proficiency in English; knowledge of Arabic or additional language
