The Position

The Specialist provides technical leadership and oversight to the analyst team while managing a portfolio of complex Liquids Infrastructure assets and commercial arrangements.

The role supports accurate financial reporting, business decision-making, analyst development, and continuous improvement.

The position partners with Business Development, Commercial, Operations, Joint Venture partners, and Finance leadership.

Financial Analysis and Accounting

  • Serve as lead financial analyst for a portfolio of Liquids Infrastructure assets.
  • Review monthly revenue, operating expenses, volumes, and performance metrics and provide insights to management.
  • Prepare and review accruals, joint venture allocations, equalizations, and complex accounting activities.
  • Ensure commercial arrangements are reflected accurately in financial reporting, forecasts, and business processes.
  • Review analysts’ work for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with policies and controls.
  • Support quarterly and annual reporting, audits, special projects, and resolution of complex accounting matters.

Business Support and Forecasting

  • Coordinate annual budgeting and forecasting activities for assigned assets.
  • Support business development initiatives through financial analysis and contract review.
  • Support strategic initiatives, acquisitions, audits, and ad hoc business requests.

Process Improvement and Controls

  • Support compliance with IFRS, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance reporting quality and efficiency.
  • Support system enhancements and maintain key process documentation.

Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Financial Analysts within the Liquids Infrastructure Accounting team.
  • Review and validate financial results, forecasts, reconciliations, and key deliverables.
  • Support workload, priority, and month-end coordination across the analyst team.
  • Provide technical guidance on accounting treatment, commercial agreements, and reporting requirements.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex accounting and commercial issues.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation or active pursuit of a professional accounting designation.
  • At least eight years of progressive accounting and financial analysis experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, or review experience.
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience with commercial agreements, joint venture accounting, or specified financial systems is an asset.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
