Software Quality Control Engineer

Role overview

Shared responsibilities

• Create and maintain test plans, cases, scenarios, and scripts; perform functional, regression, smoke, exploratory, and usability testing.
• Develop and maintain automated tests; test APIs and validate response data, schemas, and contracts.
• Conduct performance, load, stress, and endurance testing where required; identify, reproduce, document, prioritize, and track defects.
• Analyze test results, quality metrics, and logs; prepare clear test reports and collaborate across teams throughout the SDLC.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines, explore AI-assisted testing, support root cause analysis, and contribute to continuous improvement.

Level-specific scope

• Mid-level engineers execute and document tests, develop automation scripts, investigate defects, and contribute to planning, documentation, and quality reporting.
• Senior engineers lead test strategy and scalable automation frameworks, optimize automation and AI-enabled tools, oversee quality metrics, mentor colleagues, and guide estimation and risk analysis.

Requirements

• Relevant hands-on experience in software testing, QA, or software quality control; the mid-level profile specifies a minimum of 2 years.
• Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, SDLC, and Agile/Scrum.
• Experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright, or Appium; API testing tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or Swagger.
• Familiarity with performance testing tools such as JMeter, k6, or Locust; scripting in Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or a comparable language.
• Understanding of version control and CI/CD tools such as Git, GitLab CI, or Jenkins; strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Senior profile typically specifies 5+ years in QA/QC and senior-level responsibility.

Preferred skills

• Preferred: exposure to AI/ML-based testing or AI-assisted QA; basic security-testing knowledge, including OWASP Top 10, Burp Suite, or OWASP ZAP.
• Preferred: SQL and database validation, log analysis or monitoring, mobile application testing, and ISTQB or equivalent certification.
• For senior candidates, mentoring, test strategy, and effort estimation experience is preferred.

Work arrangement

• Full-time, fully onsite position in Dubai, UAE; hybrid and remote work are not available.
• Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
