Software Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain web and software applications for AI and data-driven projects.
• Build APIs for AI/ML model deployment, data pipelines, and backend services.
• Work with AI researchers on LLM-based systems, chatbots, and process automation.
• Develop front-end interfaces and dashboards using frameworks such as React or Dash.
• Implement secure data access and comply with university data governance policies.
• Contribute to MLOps and DevOps pipelines, and deploy solutions in cloud and on-premise environments.
• Write maintainable, documented code; contribute to testing and technical documentation; use Git/GitHub for version control.
• Support AI-powered educational, research, and administrative tools.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Proven experience in Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience with web frameworks such as Flask, FastAPI, or Django and front-end libraries such as React, Vue, or Angular.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, and database integration with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with attention to performance and scalability.

Preferred qualifications

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, or Software Engineering.
• LLM deployment, fine-tuning, or integration experience, including LangChain or RAG systems.
• Familiarity with MLOps frameworks such as MLflow or DVC and AI application deployment.
• Experience with AI dashboards, data visualization tools, or analytics platforms.
• Open-source contributions or experience in AI startup or research environments.
• Knowledge of Arabic NLP or bilingual English/Arabic AI applications is a plus.

Expected skills

• Familiarity with AI/ML model integration and LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Hugging Face, or Anthropic.
• Experience developing Gradio or Flask-based AI interfaces.
• Full-stack orientation across backend, frontend, and data layers is preferred.
• Understanding of AWS, Azure, or GCP and container orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of data processing, API authentication, and secure data exchange protocols.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation skills; proactive, innovative approach to applying software to real-world problems.
