Role overview

Responsibilities

• Develop short- and long-term investment strategies and identify opportunities across fixed income, equities, real estate, private equity, and investment partnerships.
• Manage short-term investments while maintaining sufficient liquidity for university operations; develop longer-term opportunities for sustainability and growth.
• Conduct financial analysis, feasibility studies, due diligence, and risk assessments; recommend asset allocation, diversification, and portfolio rebalancing.
• Monitor portfolio performance against targets and benchmarks and recommend corrective action; monitor markets and emerging opportunities.
• Evaluate fund managers, investment advisors, and strategic partners; establish policies and controls for governance, compliance, transparency, and capital protection.
• Report and present opportunities, results, and risks to executive leadership and the Board; collaborate with finance, legal, strategy, and other functions to implement approved investments.

Minimum qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7–10 years of relevant experience in investment management or corporate finance.
• Demonstrated success developing profitable short- and long-term investment opportunities.
• Strong knowledge of investment instruments, portfolio management, financial modelling, risk management, and due diligence.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills; able to present recommendations to executive leadership and governing bodies.

Preferred qualification and experience

• A Master’s degree or CFA is preferred.
• Experience in institutional, endowment, sovereign, or university investment environments is advantageous.
