Role overview

Build and operate the self-service telemetry platform for Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS), processing petabytes of data daily across AWS Regions.

The platform supports operational decisions, monitoring, compliance reporting, customer insights, and capacity forecasting.

Own distributed systems end to end and improve efficiency, data access, and platform capabilities.

Key responsibilities

  • Evolve architecture and adopt technologies that control costs as use grows.
  • Build secure, access-controlled interfaces for engineers and automated tools.
  • Improve monitoring, alerting, data quality, and automated recovery.
  • Partner across engineering, data engineering, and product teams to deliver reusable platform features.
  • Join design reviews, review code, and participate in an on-call rotation about one week every eight weeks.

Basic qualifications

  • At least 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • At least 2 years of non-internship experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
  • Programming experience in at least one software programming language.

Preferred qualifications

  • At least 3 years of full software development life-cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, builds, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Team and platform

The team owns EBS's telemetry and analytics platform and aims to provide a unified observability platform.

The roadmap focuses on efficiency, unified data transformation and querying, AI-powered data access, fault tolerance, and automation.

The team supports growth through impactful projects, design work, and mentorship from senior engineers.

Compensation

  • The base salary range for Vancouver, British Columbia is CAD 114,800–191,800 annually; total compensation may include sign-on payments and restricted stock units.
