Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Define target-state architecture, standards, and reusable patterns across on-premise, cloud-native, and hybrid environments.
• Design real-time and near-real-time streaming and ingestion for telemetry, alarms, time-series data, and operational events.
• Architect integrations with devices, gateways, PLCs, SCADA, historians, and enterprise applications.
• Design secure pipelines for model hosting, vector databases, and real-time observability.
• Establish safety frameworks, privacy controls, cost optimisation, and compliance governance.
• Work across product, engineering, operations, AI, and security teams and engage customers and vendors on technical direction.
• Stay hands-on to demonstrate and validate architecture decisions.

Required qualifications

• 15 or more years of experience, including around 10 at architect level.
• Hands-on engineering background with strong .NET and microservices foundations.
• Industrial-domain experience in mining, metals, oil and gas, manufacturing, or industrial automation.
• Experience with Apache Kafka and Kafka Streams or an equivalent streaming platform.
• Experience with time-series platforms such as InfluxDB, TimescaleDB, or OSI PI; MQTT, OPC UA, and industrial connectors.
• Experience with containerised deployment, API design, event-driven architecture, and ownership of complete platform architecture.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.

Desirable experience

• Exposure to applied AI on industrial data, including LLM integration, agent frameworks, MCP, RAG pipelines, or MLOps.
• Experience designing for multi-tenant and multi-client environments.
• Familiarity with industrial security standards such as IEC 62443.
