Senior VMware Engineer

About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior VMware Engineer to design, implement, manage, and support enterprise virtualization infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in VMware technologies, data center operations, and cloud integration, ensuring high availability, performance, and security of virtual environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage VMware vSphere environments (ESXi, vCenter Server)
• Administer and support virtual machines, clusters, and resource pools
• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and optimization of virtual infrastructure
• Implement and maintain high availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), and vMotion configurations
• Manage VMware storage solutions (VMFS, NFS, vSAN if applicable)
• Support backup and disaster recovery solutions for virtual environments
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues and provide root cause analysis
• Perform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of VMware systems
• Ensure security compliance and implement best practices in virtualization
• Collaborate with network, storage, and cloud teams for integrated solutions
• Maintain documentation of infrastructure, processes, and configurations

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–8+ years of experience in virtualization engineering or infrastructure roles
• Strong expertise in VMware vSphere (ESXi, vCenter)
• Experience with VMware tools such as:
• vMotion, HA, DRS
• vRealize Suite (preferred)
• Solid understanding of storage, networking, and SAN/NAS technologies
• Experience with backup tools (Veeam, Commvault, etc.)
• Knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Experience in data center operations and enterprise environments

Preferred Qualifications

• VMware certifications such as VCP-DCV, VCAP, or VCDX
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or hybrid environments)
• Scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python, or PowerCLI)
• Exposure to automation tools (Ansible, Terraform)
