Role overview

Senior Technical Manager role focused on construction and structural engineering projects.

The role manages technical documentation, compliance, submittals, stakeholder coordination, schedules, and quality.

Technical review and coordination

  • Review pre-qualification documents, material submittals, compliance statements, shop drawings, design calculations, method statements, and other engineering submittals.
  • Review architectural, structural, and MEP coordination drawings, including rebar shop drawings and bar bending schedules.
  • Manage engineering, material, shop drawing, RFI, and rebar call-off logs in line with the approved baseline programme.
  • Review initial and detailed design drawings and provide technical input before authority submission and construction.
  • Coordinate consultants, project teams, construction, planning, commercial, procurement, QA/QC, MEP, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues.

Procurement, delivery, and team leadership

  • Prepare and review technical packages and compliance documents for procurement and contractor, supplier, and subcontractor selection.
  • Evaluate supplier and subcontractor capabilities, experience, compliance, and suitability; support tender and techno-commercial reviews.
  • Propose value engineering, alternative materials, and technical solutions to reduce cost or duration and improve constructability without compromising quality.
  • Conduct periodic site visits to monitor compliance and resolve construction issues.
  • Monitor deliverables and coordinate RFIs, technical queries, design discrepancies, consultant comments, and site issues.
  • Support method statements, ITPs, QA/QC requirements, and technical quality documentation.
  • Coordinate preparation and submission of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, testing and commissioning documents, warranties, and handover documents.
  • Lead the technical team, monitor KPIs and pending actions, and align engineering-procurement schedules with the baseline programme.
  • Identify technical risks and potential delays, ensure compliance with approved documents and applicable standards, and support variations, claims, and scope clarification.

Candidate requirements

  • Minimum 10 to 15 years of total experience in commercial, residential, or mixed-use buildings.
  • More than 8 years of UAE experience is preferred; mid-rise or high-rise project experience is preferred.
  • Experience with a reputed contracting or real estate development company.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering is an added advantage.
  • Strong technical knowledge, hands-on construction experience, problem-solving, and decision-making capability.
  • Strong communication, coordination, negotiation, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects.
