Senior Systems Operations Engineer

About the role

In this role

• Lead or participate in managing installed systems and infrastructure within Systems Operations.
• Increase system efficiencies and reduce human intervention on operational tasks.
• Review and analyze operational support systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Work with vendors and technical personnel to resolve problems and technical issues.
• Lead the team in meeting technical deliverables using process controls and standards.
• Collaborate with technical personnel to maintain systems and infrastructure availability.

Required qualifications

• At least 4 years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent experience, training, military experience, or education.

Desired qualifications

• Working experience with ITIL, programming and scripting, CI/CD, automation, monitoring, observability, cloud, operating systems, and data platforms.
• A technology-oriented B.E. or B.Tech degree or equivalent advanced degree.
• Analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Flexibility to work rotational day shifts, floating weekends, and extended hours when required.

Technology expectations

• ITIL areas include incident, change, asset, and configuration management with CMDB.
• Programming and scripting technologies include Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, Node.js, Angular, .NET, and C#.
• CI/CD and automation tools include Ansible, Puppet, Apigee, Jenkins, Git, Maven, Gradle, SonarQube, and Artifactory.
• Monitoring and observability tools include Splunk, Elastic, Kibana, Grafana, Prometheus, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, BigPanda, and TrueSight.
• Cloud and platform technologies include AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, OpenShift, PCF, PKS, and VMware.
• Data, messaging, and storage technologies include Kafka, IBM MQ, Apache, Oracle, SQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, and Hadoop.
