Senior Systems Operations Engineer

Role Overview

Role Responsibilities

• Manage installed systems and infrastructure within Systems Operations.
• Improve system efficiency and reduce human intervention in operational tasks.
• Analyze operational support systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Work with vendors and technical personnel to resolve issues and maintain availability.
• Lead technical deliverables while applying process controls and standards.
• Use ServiceNow for problem and change management activities.
• Manage virtual machines, templates, clones, snapshots, hosts, clusters, switches, and VMware infrastructure.
• Perform VMware, NSX-V/NSX-T, PowerFlex, and vSAN installation, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
• Manage storage, performance, capacity, HA, DRS, vMotion, and related infrastructure operations.
• Automate daily activities using PowerCLI or Ansible and back up and restore VMware servers using VDP.
• Resolve system problems, respond to business partner inquiries, and escalate concerns when needed.
• Support system design, process improvements, root-cause analysis, projects, and 12-by-7 operations.

Required Qualifications

• At least 4 years of Systems Engineering or Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through work, training, military experience, or education.

Desired Qualifications

• A graduate degree from a reputed university is desired.
• VMware infrastructure administration and enterprise VMware experience are desired.
• Windows/Linux administration, VMware Certified Professional 8.x, and hardware troubleshooting experience are desired.
• Knowledge of vRealize Operations Manager, NSX-V/NSX-T, vSAN, SAN/NFS storage, and networking is desired.
• Experience managing at least 1,000 ESXi hosts and using PowerShell or Ansible is desired.
• Problem analysis, teamwork, collaboration, English, and at least one regional language are desired.

Support Schedule

• The role includes working in a 12-by-7 support operation.
