Role summary

Establish a practical Systems Engineering framework using the existing UAV platform as the baseline product.

Build foundations for requirements, architecture, interfaces, configuration and change control, integration, risk and safety, and verification and validation.

Work hands-on with avionics, software, flight controls, mechanical, manufacturing, and flight-test teams without disrupting ongoing product development.

Systems engineering responsibilities

  • Map the existing UAV development process and establish a lifecycle from stakeholder needs through design, integration, V&V, release, and operational feedback.
  • Develop and maintain stakeholder, system, subsystem, interface, and derived requirements with bidirectional traceability.
  • Develop functional, logical, and physical architectures; define system boundaries, functional decomposition, subsystem allocations, and interface definitions or ICDs.
  • Maintain an RVTM linking requirements to verification methods, test cases, results, and evidence.
  • Support integration and V&V from component and bench tests through SIL/HIL, ground testing, and flight testing.
  • Establish configuration and change control, including baselines, change requests, impact analysis, and CCB support.
  • Support trade studies, engineering decisions, FHA, FMEA/FMECA, FTA, technical risk identification, and safety-derived requirements.
  • Create practical templates, naming conventions, identification schemes, review checklists, and engineering records.
  • Implement and administer requirements, MBSE, and traceability tools; support migration of existing product information.
  • Coordinate discipline engineers to keep requirements, architecture, interfaces, configurations, and verification evidence consistent.
  • Support SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and FRR with tailored entry and exit criteria.
  • Mentor the Junior Systems Engineer and develop reusable systems-engineering assets for future UAV platforms.

Required experience

  • 5–8 years of Systems Engineering or multidisciplinary product-development experience.
  • At least 3 years in aerospace, UAV, aircraft, robotics, autonomous systems, defense, or another safety-critical multidisciplinary product environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in several of requirements traceability, architecture, interface management, integration, V&V, configuration/change management, and technical risk or safety analysis.
  • Experience taking systems through multiple lifecycle stages, beyond requirements or documentation alone.
  • Practical experience working with multidisciplinary hardware/software systems.
  • Experience with MBSE or architecture-modelling tools such as Capella, Cameo/SysML, Enterprise Architect, or equivalent.
  • Experience with requirements-management tools such as DOORS, Polarion, Jama, Tuleap, Reqtify, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of Git/version control; familiarity with SIL/HIL and system-level testing is strongly preferred.

Technical knowledge

  • Working knowledge of ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 lifecycle principles; requirements development, decomposition, allocation, and traceability; architecture; and Interface Control Documents.
  • Working knowledge of verification by analysis, inspection, demonstration, and test, plus configuration baselines and engineering change control.
  • Knowledge of FHA/FMEA/FMECA/FTA concepts and UAV subsystems including avionics, flight control, navigation, C2/telemetry, electrical power, propulsion, payload, and ground control systems.
  • PLM experience with Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, Aras Innovator, or equivalent is preferred for configuration, BOM, engineering change, and lifecycle traceability.
  • Knowledge of ARP4754A, ARP4761, DO-178C, and DO-254 is desirable but not mandatory.

Education

  • Required bachelor's degree in aerospace, aeronautical, electrical/electronics, mechanical, mechatronics, systems engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • A master's degree in systems/aerospace engineering and/or INCOSE ASEP/CSEP or equivalent systems-engineering training is preferred.

Location and availability

  • Role location is Abu Dhabi.
  • The posting prefers candidates currently residing in the UAE and immediate joiners.
