Senior Solar PV Engineer

Role overview

Design and engineering

• Design rooftop, carport, ground-mounted, and BIPV systems, including façades, skylights, and canopies.
• Perform system sizing, energy-yield simulations using PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar tools, and shading analysis.
• Prepare single-line diagrams, string layouts, cable sizing, and protection coordination.
• Select modules, inverters, mounting structures, and balance-of-system components from DEWA-approved lists.

DEWA and regulatory work

• Prepare and submit Shams Dubai applications, design packages, and technical documentation through the DEWA portal.
• Coordinate DEWA inspections, respond to comments, and resolve technical objections.
• Ensure compliance with DEWA distributed renewable resources standards, Dubai Municipality, Civil Defence, and building codes.
• Support technical justifications and appeals when approvals are disputed.

Project execution and leadership

• Lead site surveys, feasibility studies, and structural coordination.
• Supervise installation teams and subcontractors to ensure quality and HSE standards.
• Manage testing and commissioning, including IV curve testing, insulation resistance, and protection settings.
• Oversee net-metering connection and handover documentation.
• Lead client meetings, consultant reviews, and tender clarifications; prepare BOQs, technical proposals, and cost estimates.
• Mentor junior engineers and technicians, troubleshoot operating systems, and support O&M activities.

Mandatory requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Renewable Energy Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on solar PV experience in Dubai.
• Valid UAE driving license.
• Proven record of DEWA Shams Dubai submissions and approvals.
• Strong knowledge of on-grid PV systems, inverters, and grid protection requirements.

Preferred qualifications

• DEWA Solar PV Certified Engineer (Shams Dubai certification) is preferred.
• BIPV experience with façades, glass-glass modules, or custom modules is preferred.
• AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Excel-based design tools are preferred.
• Knowledge of IEC 61215, IEC 61730, IEC 62446, and related standards is preferred.
• Battery storage integration experience is preferred.

• Strong technical report writing and documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Excellent communication with clients, consultants, and authorities.
• Comfort with regular site visits in UAE conditions.

Pay

• Advertised pay range: AED 4,896.76–20,325.73 per month.
