Role overview

Join Braze's Decisioning Studio Integrations team building Decisioning Studio, a reinforcement-learning platform that continuously experiments to personalize customer engagement.

The team owns enterprise data ingestion and delivery of recommendations across email, SMS, push, in-app, and other channels.

The role covers high-impact, customer-facing integration capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead integration projects from design through build and rollout, and set platform technical direction.
  • Build enterprise integrations for data ingestion and activation orchestration.
  • Create pipelines for batch pulls, file drops, APIs, and streaming that handle arbitrary schemas and protect models from bad data.
  • Build reliable activation pipelines that deliver recommendations on schedule, recover from partial failures, and avoid duplicate sends.
  • Design multi-region deployment and compliance capabilities, including data residency and PII handling.
  • Operate production systems with Datadog, join the on-call rotation, and resolve incidents to root cause.
  • Partner with data science, ML, and product teams to create reusable platform capabilities.
  • Mentor engineers and raise standards for code quality, testing, and design review.

Required qualifications

  • 6+ years of backend engineering experience building and operating distributed systems in production.
  • Technical leadership experience owning complex projects, making architecture decisions, and setting direction.
  • Experience building high-volume data pipelines or integrations, including schema changes, backfills, and partial failures.
  • Strong event-driven architecture and reliability knowledge, including idempotency, retries, dead-letter handling, and delivery-semantics tradeoffs.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL; hands-on cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes experience.
  • Experience with AI coding assistants and sound judgment about their use.
  • Clear communicator and self-starter, effective across engineering, data science, and product.

Bonus experience

  • Cloud data warehouse integrations such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift.
  • Customer engagement platform integrations such as Braze, Adobe, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or Klaviyo.
  • Multi-region systems with data-residency and compliance requirements, or production ML systems.

Compensation

  • For candidates based in Canada, expected base pay at employment start is CA$186,838–CA$334,740 per year.
  • Expected Canadian on-target earnings are CA$205,600–CA$366,000 per year, including bonus or commission.
  • Offer amounts vary with market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience; the role also qualifies for a total rewards package including restricted stock units.
