Role overview

The role description identifies Java Full Stack Engineers working on Staples Supply Chain applications and platforms.

Work spans the software development lifecycle in globally distributed Agile teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, maintain, deploy, enhance, and support enterprise applications.
  • Develop scalable, high-performance REST APIs, backend services, and microservices.
  • Build and enhance user-facing applications using modern web technologies.
  • Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, resolve defects, and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA, DevOps, and business teams.
  • Apply CI/CD, automated testing, and secure-coding practices; contribute to modernization and platform improvement.
  • Deliver user stories independently, write unit-tested maintainable code, and participate in sprint ceremonies.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, resilient, and aligned with enterprise standards.

Required experience

  • 3–5 years of software engineering experience.
  • Hands-on Java and Spring Boot development experience.
  • Experience developing REST APIs and backend services.
  • Understanding of SQL and relational databases.
  • Exposure to Agile development practices and experience with Git and source-control tools.

Technology stack

  • Backend technologies include Java 8, 11, or 17 and the Spring Boot ecosystem: MVC, Data, JPA, Security, and Cloud.
  • Data technologies listed include PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, MongoDB, Cosmos DB, and Couchbase.
  • Messaging and integration technologies listed include Kafka, Event Hub, Solace, and API integration.
  • DevOps technologies listed include GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, SonarQube, Docker, and Kubernetes.

Preferred experience

  • Microservices architecture experience is preferred.
  • Angular or React development experience is preferred.
  • Azure, GCP, or AWS experience is preferred.
  • Retail or supply-chain domain exposure is preferred.
