Team and role

Join Expedia Group's Air Filters & Ranking team, a backend-focused, data-driven team building systems that shape flight search results.

The team owns the Flights Central Tool, flight filters, and ranking systems used to select and present flight offers.

The Flights Central Tool supports configuration, feature flags, experiments, and insights for flight experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality software for reliable, accessible, and intuitive customer experiences.
  • Translate product requirements into scalable technical solutions; contribute to system design, API design, and data modeling.
  • Own features or components through implementation, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, production support, and improvement.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and technical teams to deliver outcomes.
  • Safely integrate and operate AI/ML-enabled solutions that improve products and engineering workflows.

Minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent related professional experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience owning service or application features from design and implementation through testing, deployment, and operational support.
  • Proficiency in software development, API integration, data modeling, version control, automated testing, debugging, and production support.
  • Familiarity with low-level system design and maintainable, reliable, secure, operationally resilient software.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience delivering software products at scale with focus on performance, accessibility, usability, security, and operational excellence.
  • Ability to make data-driven technical decisions, diagnose complex issues, and improve production reliability and maintainability.
  • Experience contributing to architecture and design across services or technical domains and collaborating with partner teams.
  • Practical experience with AI-assisted development or applying AI/ML concepts to products, workflows, or customer outcomes.
  • Experience operating AI/ML-enabled features with attention to reliability, governance, and measurable impact.

Product context

The team integrates machine-learning models to score, blend, and rank flight offers in real time.

Flight filters cover stops, times, airlines, fare attributes, and flexibility; the team is developing intent-aware filtering.
