Senior Project Engineer – Civil Infrastructure Works

Role overview

Site execution and planning

• Manage daily site activities and oversee excavation, trenching, shoring, backfilling, compaction, reinstatement, roadworks and utility installations.
• Coordinate pipeline networks, drainage, utility corridors, chambers, manholes and associated concrete structures.
• Plan and allocate manpower, equipment, materials and subcontractor resources across work fronts.
• Develop short-term plans, weekly schedules and look-ahead programmes; monitor progress, productivity and resource availability.
• Identify constraints, delays, productivity issues and shortages, then implement corrective actions.
• Coordinate schedule updates, progress reports, resource mobilisation and material availability.

Technical coordination and approvals

• Review drawings, specifications, shop drawings and method statements; identify discrepancies, conflicts and constructability issues.
• Prepare and review technical submittals, RFIs, method statements and inspection requests.
• Coordinate with consultants, clients, subcontractors and internal engineering teams to resolve technical queries.
• Coordinate surveys, setting-out and verification of levels and alignments.
• Coordinate with UAE authorities and utility providers, including RTA, Dubai Municipality and DEWA.
• Ensure permits, NOCs, excavation approvals and work clearances are in place before work begins.
• Coordinate existing service identification, trial pits, service protection and utility diversions.
• Support inspections, approvals, testing and final handover.

Cost, quality and project reporting

• Monitor labour, materials, equipment and subcontractor use; control wastage, downtime and unnecessary expenditure.
• Coordinate material requisitions and procurement based on site needs; verify subcontractor progress and completed quantities.
• Maintain records supporting progress billing, variations and contractual claims; coordinate measured work and cost implications with QS and commercial teams.
• Coordinate quality inspections, testing and approvals, including compaction, concrete and pipeline installation tests.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, project specifications, HSE plans, risk assessments and method statements.
• Enforce safe excavation, trench protection, lifting and traffic management requirements; address non-conformances and corrective actions.
• Prepare and review daily progress reports, weekly site reports and resource utilisation records.
• Attend project progress meetings with clients and consultants.

Requirements

• Strong technical knowledge and hands-on site execution experience in civil infrastructure works.
• Ability to independently manage construction activities, manpower, subcontractors, materials and project schedules.
