Company and product

Open Innovation AI develops solutions for managing AI workloads; its Open Innovation Cluster Manager orchestrates AI tasks across diverse infrastructure and hardware.

The platform supports GPUs and accelerators and is designed to integrate and scale enterprise AI applications.

Role focus

The role is for a senior platform engineer who builds, operates, troubleshoots, and maintains Kubernetes clusters at the infrastructure level.

The focus is self-managed Kubernetes, cluster internals, control-plane components, etcd, observability, and platform automation.

The role is not primarily application deployment onto existing clusters, managed Kubernetes services, or general DevOps work.

Cluster engineering and operations

  • Build, bootstrap, configure, and manage self-managed clusters, including control planes, worker nodes, networking, and core platform services.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain the Kubernetes API server, scheduler, controller manager, and other critical control-plane components.
  • Tune etcd; handle backup, restore, disaster recovery, performance troubleshooting, cluster health, and quorum issues.
  • Implement observability for cluster health, control-plane metrics, etcd, nodes, resource utilization, logs, and alerts.
  • Use FluxCD GitOps for cluster configuration, platform components, and infrastructure changes.
  • Use Ansible to provision, configure, upgrade, and maintain clusters and underlying infrastructure.
  • Use Helm to manage platform components and infrastructure services; write Bash and/or Python automation utilities.
  • Manage upgrades, configuration changes, certificate rotation, node lifecycle, and platform maintenance with minimal disruption.
  • Diagnose complex cluster failures, perform root-cause analysis, and implement reliability improvements.
  • Write technical documentation, operational runbooks, recovery procedures, and platform standards.

Required technical experience

  • Hands-on experience building and managing self-managed Kubernetes clusters, including control-plane setup and administration.
  • In-depth Kubernetes architecture, internals, control-plane, and cluster lifecycle knowledge; experience diagnosing issues across components, nodes, networking, and core services.
  • Practical etcd tuning, backup and recovery, performance optimization, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with cluster-level observability, including metrics, logs, alerts, and health monitoring.
  • Hands-on FluxCD and GitOps infrastructure configuration experience, and strong Helm experience managing platform components.
  • Ansible experience for infrastructure configuration, provisioning, and operations automation.
  • Proficiency in Bash and/or Python scripting, plus strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with bare-metal, on-premises, private-cloud, or hybrid Kubernetes environments is preferred.
  • Kubeadm or equivalent cluster bootstrap experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes networking, CNI plugins, DNS, certificates, RBAC, and cluster security is preferred.
  • Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager, highly available control planes, disaster recovery exercises, air-gapped environments, or automated platform upgrades are preferred.
