Ensures delivery is safe, timely, within budget, and compliant with project specifications, aquatic standards, and local authority requirements.

Projects include competition, training, public, hotel, resort, residential, rooftop, and infinity pools; spas, wellness facilities, fountains, splash pads, and water parks.

Design and engineering

  • Develop and finalize designs for filtration, circulation, balance tanks, overflow/skimmer systems, and pipework; perform pool hydraulic calculations.
  • Select pumps, filters, strainers, heat exchangers, and heat pumps; design water treatment, disinfection, heating, and cooling systems.
  • Coordinate indoor-pool HVAC and dehumidification, including condensation and corrosion control.
  • Design pool electrical systems, underwater lighting, bonding, earthing, PLC/BMS controls, automation, water-level control, backwash, and drainage.
  • Integrate energy-saving solutions and prepare technical specifications, calculations, equipment schedules, and BOQs.

Execution, commissioning, and handover

  • Lead site MEP execution from mobilization to handover; review shop drawings, material submittals, technical data, method statements, and inspection plans.
  • Coordinate with structural, civil, waterproofing, tiling, and finishing trades; plan resources, subcontractors, suppliers, and long-lead procurement.
  • Monitor programme and costs, report variances, implement recovery actions, and support quantity take-off, variations, and payment certification.
  • Develop and execute pressure, flow, leak, electrical, and control-system tests; supervise pool start-up, water balancing, and chemistry stabilization.
  • Verify entrapment-prevention and suction-safety measures; prepare as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, and handover documentation; train client staff.

Compliance, coordination, and leadership

  • Comply with applicable aquatic, electrical, building, safety, and local authority requirements; obtain relevant authority approvals.
  • Implement QA/QC, inspect work, close NCRs and snag lists, enforce chemical, confined-space, electrical, and project HSE safety, and prepare risk assessments.
  • Act as the MEP technical contact for clients, consultants, architects, landscape architects, and contractors; attend meetings and respond to RFIs.
  • Prepare technical reports and value-engineering proposals; lead and mentor engineers, supervisors, and draughtsmen.
  • Troubleshoot water-quality and equipment issues at completed facilities; support tenders with technical studies, proposals, equipment selection, and estimates.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • At least 10 years of MEP engineering experience, including at least five years in swimming pool, spa, water feature, or aquatic projects.
  • Proven delivery of commercial, hospitality, or public aquatic facilities from design through commissioning; regional authority-process experience is an advantage.
  • Preferred credentials include PE, CEng, or Society of Engineers membership; CPO or equivalent; and PMP or equivalent. Local engineering authority approval applies where required.

Technical knowledge and competencies

  • Knowledge of pool hydraulics, filtration, circulation, balance tanks, water chemistry, disinfection, heating, HVAC, and dehumidification.
  • Knowledge of pool electrical safety, underwater lighting, bonding, earthing, PLC/BMS controls, automation, and water-feature systems.
  • Familiarity with pool equipment manufacturers; software includes AutoCAD, Revit MEP/BIM, MS Project or Primavera P6, MS Office, and hydraulic calculation tools.
  • Clear written and verbal English communication; Arabic is an advantage. Strong judgment, problem-solving, leadership, delegation, client focus, and stakeholder management.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines with attention to quality and safety.

Performance indicators

Projects delivered on schedule and within the MEP budget; design and submittals approved at first submission.

No major HSE incidents; water quality and system performance achieved at commissioning.
