Senior Manager, Site Reliability Engineering

Role purpose

Governance and operating standards

• Establish common SRE standards across incident, problem, change, service transition, resilience and operational management.
• Define minimum operational and resilience expectations for SRE-supported services.
• Maintain RACI models across SRE, Engineering, Product and Service Management.
• Support maturity of Product SRE, Project SRE and ProdOps operating models.

Controls and assurance

• Establish a control-assurance framework for production and operational risks.
• Coordinate evidence for internal audit, external audit and second-line assurance.
• Track control weaknesses, exceptions and remediation through closure.
• Govern access management, vulnerability remediation, change controls, service continuity and production readiness; ensure evidence is repeatable and auditable.

Resilience and recovery

• Lead resilience governance across Risk Intelligence services and set standards for disaster recovery, failover, BMR, recovery readiness and evidence.
• Ensure critical services have current, tested recovery procedures aligned to materiality and business requirements.
• Coordinate resilience testing and track RTO/RPO readiness, recovery gaps and remediation plans.
• Support assurance of high availability, failover capability, recovery dependencies and applicable immutable backup/storage expectations.

Capacity and service reviews

• Govern capacity planning, performance testing and autoscaling readiness; introduce regular capacity attestation for critical services.
• Ensure capacity and performance risks are considered in service transition, change and resilience planning.
• Establish monthly operational and service-review cadence with scorecards covering reliability, availability, incidents, changes, risks, resilience, vulnerabilities, service hygiene and improvements.
• Ensure review outputs have accountable owners, dates and measurable outcomes; promote evidence-led decisions and reliability improvement.

Process and operational hygiene

• Standardize incident, problem, change, service transition, resilience and production-support practices; simplify inconsistent or duplicated processes.
• Support SRE maturity assessments and improvement plans while ensuring governance supports engineering velocity.
• Set expectations for runbooks, support groups, escalation paths, ownership records and operational documentation.
• Govern access reviews, service accounts, certificate/key tracking, monitoring coverage and operational evidence; remediate stale artefacts and introduce measurable hygiene indicators.

Reporting and data quality

• Own and improve the quality and consistency of SRE management information and reporting standards across reliability, incidents, changes, risks, resilience and service health.
• Improve service, ownership and dependency data used in reporting, reduce manual reconciliation and improve trust in central reporting.
• Drive automation of recurring governance and management reporting.

Requirements

• The role leads governance, control assurance, operational risk and resilience frameworks for Site Reliability Engineering across Risk Intelligence.
• Establish consistent, auditable and risk-based operating practices across SRE.
• Work collaboratively with SRE, Engineering, Product, Service Management, Architecture, Cyber Security, Risk and Audit teams.
