Role overview
The Workday Solutions Senior Manager is accountable for the architectural integrity, configuration, integrations, data model, and security of RBC's Workday platform.
The role governs and evolves Workday technical design within HR Digital Solutions while leading functional configuration, security, and data analysts.
The position combines hands-on technical work, solutions design, and people leadership to keep the platform stable, governable, scalable, and compliant.
People leadership and design
- Prioritize business-as-usual security, data management, and workflow configuration against project and operational initiatives.
- Build team capability through cross-training, secondments, and growth paths; promote documentation, peer review, and knowledge sharing.
- Own functional design standards for business processes, security groups, the data model, and integrations.
- Maintain reusable design patterns and review proposed configuration, customizations, and integrations for architectural fit, scalability, and risk.
- Lead complex cross-module and cross-system work, including module rollouts, M&A integrations, and AI-agent data access patterns.
Platform, integrations, and governance
- Co-design and oversee integrations using Workday Studio, EIBs, Core Connector, and Workday APIs or web services.
- Maintain dependency mapping across Workday and connected systems such as ServiceNow, SAP, vendors, and data platforms.
- Partner with IT on tenant and environment strategy and release management, including regression and impact assessment.
- Direct Workday-SAP security administration and oversee data synchronization, data quality, and extracts.
- Partner with HR and IT to govern Workday data for downstream reporting, Snowflake, and AI-agent use; establish quality-control and peer-review practices.
Leadership and collaboration
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for design conflicts, feasibility questions, and complex troubleshooting.
- Mentor Digital Solutions teams and partner with ServiceNow, IT, and enterprise architecture and security teams on cross-platform decisions.
Required qualifications
- At least 7 years of Workday experience with demonstrated expert-level technical experience.
- Practical experience with Phenom, VNDLY, ServiceNow, S/4 HANA, Microsoft access management, and other enterprise applications at global scope.
- Prior people management experience, ideally leading technical or analyst teams, and comfort balancing hands-on design with leadership.
- Deep expertise in the Workday data model, security architecture, and business process framework.
- Hands-on experience with Workday Studio, EIBs, Core Connectors, PECI, RaaS, and Workday APIs.
- Experience managing tenant and release strategy across a multi-module Workday deployment.
- Strong enterprise data governance and security knowledge; financial-services experience is preferred.
- Ability to translate ambiguous business requirements into scalable designs and explain tradeoffs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred qualifications
- Workday certifications in Integrations, HCM Core, Procure to Pay, or Security are preferred.
- Experience supporting AI or data-platform initiatives consuming Workday data, such as Snowflake pipelines, is preferred.
- Experience in a large matrixed enterprise with formal change and release governance, or exposure to ServiceNow or other HR service-delivery platforms, is preferred.
Success and role details
The role requires sound judgment in declining configuration requests that compromise long-term design integrity.
The role combines individual technical contribution with setting standards for others and documenting designs for broader use.
Employment is full time and regular; the stated work schedule is 37.5 hours per week.
The posting describes salaried compensation but provides no pay cadence or amount.
