About The Role

We are looking for a Senior Manager – HIA Operations to take full accountability for day-to-day airport operations at Hamad International Airport (HIA).

In this role, you will act as the designated senior authority on shift, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient airport operations while delivering world-class service quality.

You will also play a critical leadership role during emergencies, with the authority to restrict or cease operations when required for safety and security

1. Airport Operations Leadership

  • Lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver excellence in safety, security, service, and quality
  • Act as the key liaison with state authorities during operational shifts
  • Ensure all stakeholders (airlines, agencies, partners) are continuously informed
  • Oversee efficient allocation of staff, equipment, and resources
  • Drive improvements to enhance Airport Service Quality (ASQ) performance

2. Operational Control & Performance

  • Oversee Airport Operations Control Centre (AOCC) performance on shift
  • Ensure KPIs and SLAs are consistently met
  • Provide executive-level operational reports to senior management
  • Maintain strong working relationships with airlines and station managers

3. Emergency & Incident Management

  • Lead response to accidents, incidents, and disruptions
  • Implement Airport Emergency Plan procedures
  • Drive root cause analysis and prevention actions
  • Ensure business continuity during infrastructure failures

4. Strategic & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Set and align team objectives with business goals
  • Lead, develop, and coach teams, including national talent development
  • Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Represent HIA in operational meetings and decision-making forums

5. Safety, Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with:
  • + ICAO standards and airport regulations
  • + Safety, security, and environmental policies
  • + Data protection requirements across operations
  • Take ownership of incident reporting and workplace safety culture

What We Are Looking For

Requirement

  • Without a Degree:
  • + Grade 10 - 12 Operational Positions: High School / Vocational Qualification with Minimum 12 years of job-related experience OR
  • With a Degree:
  • Grade 10 - Non-Operation Positions : Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 10 years of job-related experience
  • + Relevant College or University qualification to min Bachelor's level
  • + Minimum 8 years relevant experience
  • + Post graduate degree in a related field will be an advantage
  • + Attended Airline courses on Passenger Services, Ramp Operations Baggage and Cargo
  • + Experience in senior management role, process reengineering, solution design, project management change management, demonstrated leadership and motivation skills
  • + Significant experience gained in a Commercial Management Team
  • + Seasoned professional in all Airport Operational areas
  • + Airport/Airline Control Centre experience preferred
  • + Middle East experience preferred
  • + Preferably have attended Aerodrome Safety Management courses and relevant ICAO/ACI/IATA training
  • + Hub Control experience preferred
  • + Comprehensive experience on Airside Operations / Terminal Operations and Resource Planning **Job Specific Skills:**
  • + Specialist knowledge of Airport Operations Airside and Landside

+ Full Driving License

+ Possess exceptional oral and written communication skills

+ Excellent knowledge of ICAO Standards and recommended practices (SARPS) on Airport operations

+ Excellent knowledge of Aerodrome Emergency procedures

+ Computer literate

+ Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow.

Strong mentoring and coaching skills.

Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills.

Ability to foster teamwork among team members
