Job Purpose
Provide expert legal counsel and lead the drafting, negotiation, and alignment of agreements for SOPC, ensuring legal protection, risk mitigation, and support for strategic goals during high-level negotiations and partnerships.
Legal Advice and Compliance
- Provide legal advice to internal stakeholders on disputes, risk management, and compliance with laws and regulations.
- Advise SOPC on compliance with international and national sports regulations, such as the Olympic Charter and Saudi Arabian sports laws.
- Provide legal advice on sports governance, including regulatory frameworks, anti-doping policies, and athlete eligibility requirements.
- Offer expert legal advice and strategic insights to various departments and senior leadership on an array of legal matters, encompassing contracts, corporate governance, intellectual property, data protection, and other critical legal areas relevant to SOPC's operations.
- Provide periodic updates to executive leadership on emerging legal trends, regulatory changes, and implications for SOPC's operations and partnerships, ensuring proactive strategic alignment.
Agreements’ Management and Negotiation
- Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to sponsorships, broadcasting, partnerships, service providers, and athlete contracts, ensuring compliance with sports regulations.
- Ensure alignment with international sporting bodies’ rules (e.g., IOC, IPC) when preparing contracts and agreements for sports events and competitions.
- Act as the primary legal advisor during high-stakes negotiations, providing actionable insights on legal risks, opportunities, and potential impacts to aid in well-informed decision-making. Offer solutions to balance legal obligations with organizational goals in complex discussions.
- Work closely with internal teams, ensuring a smooth process for the execution of agreements. Facilitate effective coordination to meet legal and operational requirements, verifying that all agreements are accurately implemented and in compliance with organizational standards.
- Mentor junior legal staff in contract management, risk assessment, and negotiation techniques to build team capacity and maintain high standards within the Advisory & Agreements sub-function.
