Lead RBC's mission-critical access network operations across branches, campuses, remote home offices, ATM networks, global Wi-Fi, and SD-WAN/global WAN connectivity.

Drive operational excellence and modernization through SRE practices, automation, and AI-assisted operations while balancing service stability with long-term improvements.

Operations and incident management

  • Lead global access network operations, ensuring high availability and adherence to service level agreements.
  • Direct critical incident triage, root cause analysis, escalation, and stakeholder communication for infrastructure events.
  • Oversee network changes, migrations, and technology refreshes with minimal business disruption.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews and problem management to resolve resilience gaps and chronic issues.

Team leadership

  • Lead and mentor a roughly 15-person technical operations team, supporting coaching, performance development, and succession planning.
  • Build continuous learning, technical excellence, and accountability; align team capacity and skills with infrastructure needs.
  • Represent the team in vendor calls, implementation planning, cross-training, and strategic technology discussions.

Modernization and planning

  • Champion SRE transformation, automation, observability, proactive incident detection and remediation, and AI-assisted operations.
  • Identify automation opportunities in incident response, monitoring, alerting, and routine tasks; partner on AI agents, intelligent alerting, and predictive analytics.
  • Maintain operational standards, runbooks, and documentation; plan network refreshes, SD-WAN expansion, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Partner across engineering and business technology teams and communicate operational metrics, risks, and transformation progress to leadership.

Required qualifications

  • 6–8 years of enterprise network operations experience, including 2–4 years in leadership or senior technical management.
  • Track record driving technology modernization and automation, with a strong SRE foundation in runbooks, observability, and metrics-driven operations.
  • Hands-on access networking knowledge spanning routing and switching protocols, SD-WAN, Aruba wireless, ClearPass, global Wi-Fi, and ATM networks.
  • Strong critical incident management, root cause analysis, and high-pressure communication experience.
  • Experience managing teams of 15 or more with accountability for SLAs, metrics, and business deliverables.

Preferred qualifications

  • CCNP, CISSP, or other relevant network certifications are nice to have.
  • Familiarity with Python, Ansible, or Bash; orchestration platforms, AI agents, or intelligent alerting; and cross-functional modernization programs are nice to have.

Benefits and opportunities

  • RBC describes a comprehensive total rewards program, competitive compensation, bonuses, flexible benefits, career advancement, and training and development opportunities.

Workplace and schedule

  • The posting lists full-time, regular employment and 37.5 work hours per week.
  • An RBC Centre address in Toronto is provided; the description does not explicitly state an onsite or hybrid work policy.
