Senior Machine Learning Scientist

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Research, design, and deliver robust ML solutions for pricing and shipping, spanning prediction and decision-making under business constraints.
• Lead productionization and scaling of models with ML and backend engineers so they run reliably on company systems.
• Define requirements with Pricing and Shipping stakeholders and lead ML solution design for applied business problems.
• Design and run large-scale experiments to test hypotheses and guide model and product improvements with statistical rigor.
• Follow applied research, contribute to internal knowledge sharing and ML best practices, and apply techniques in prediction, causal inference, and optimization.
• Participate in technical whiteboarding, planning, and roadmapping.
• Communicate technical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Own high-impact projects, lead core modeling direction, and mentor others.

Skills and experience

• Significant Machine Learning Scientist experience and a proven track record delivering and scaling models for complex real-world problems.
• Deep understanding of machine learning and experience applying it in production.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or gradient boosting libraries.
• Experience with causal inference, uplift modeling, or optimization under constraints.
• Strong Python skills and ability to write clean, modular, production-grade code.
• Solid understanding of data engineering and MLOps principles.
• Ability to lead end-to-end ML projects, work independently in ambiguous problem spaces, and mentor junior team members.
