Senior Landscape Architect

Role overview

Project delivery and leadership

• Independently manage and coordinate smaller, less complex landscape design projects, structure teams, and prepare deployment plans for review.
• Lead client meetings and own deliverable structure and content.
• Deliver designs and complete technical landscape packages independently, with senior-team direction or review.
• Coordinate authority requirements and technical contributions from other disciplines.
• Support bid preparation through technical approaches, methodologies, delivery structures, and commercial inputs.

Design standards and collaboration

• Interpret public realm, sustainability, and regional regulatory standards for project design tasks.
• Translate senior staff vision frameworks into public realm design principles and objectives; document principles and guidelines clearly.
• Participate in workshops, prepare outcome reports, and lead teams preparing workshop and client presentation materials.
• Apply regional planting and irrigation requirements, standards, and guidelines.

Project operations and quality

• Learn and manage project financial status with project managers and project leads; review landscape cost plans and provide studio and resourcing updates.
• Gain site experience on ongoing projects and work with senior staff to resolve design issues.
• Organize internal libraries and update project sheets.
• Develop design solutions using digital tools and personal skills.
• Apply quality procedures and self-checks; review deliverables against PDS QA/QC requirements.
• Improve landscape graphics, including diagrams, Photoshop work, and Lumion renders, and document practices for team use.
• Orient and mentor new recruits, graduates, and landscape architects.

Qualifications

• At least 6 years of professional landscape architecture experience, including design, project delivery, and team leadership.
• Advanced proficiency with 3D visualization and BIM tools, such as SketchUp, Revit, or similar platforms.
• Strong knowledge of landscape design, spatial planning, site analysis, and public realm design standards.
• Experience with GIS and digital mapping for environmental analysis and site assessment.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite for presentation graphics, visualization, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of sustainable landscape design, environmental stewardship, and regional regulatory guidelines.
• Expertise in planting design, irrigation systems, and regional horticultural standards.
• Ability to lead client meetings, manage stakeholder communications, and deliver design presentations.
• Experience in project financial management, cost planning, budget tracking, QA/QC, technical documentation, construction administration, and site supervision.
• Strong technical writing, mentoring, bid preparation, organizational, and project coordination skills.
