Senior Java Software Engineer

Role overview

What you’ll do

• Write production-ready code and own the pipeline and Helm chart used to ship it.
• Produce low-level designs and represent the team in architecture reviews.
• Threat-model features and design authentication, authorization, and data handling from the start.
• Instrument services before release, take on-call rotations, and drive faults to root cause.
• Identify technical gaps, propose fixes with cost-benefit considerations, and use AI tooling day to day.
• Mentor engineers, uphold testing and error-handling standards, and interview candidates.

What you’ll bring

• 8+ years of Java experience, including Java 17+, Spring Boot, and Spring Security; ability to debug the JVM using thread dumps, heap dumps, and traces.
• Experience designing and operating client-facing microservices, including API versioning and unit, integration, contract, and load testing.
• Design for failure and scale using idempotency, retries, circuit breakers, caching, and data-led bottleneck diagnosis.
• Strong relational data modeling and query design with MySQL, including schema and index tuning proven under load.
• Solid security grounding in OWASP Top 10, authentication and authorization, and secrets management.
• Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, AWS, and CI/CD experience, including debugging failed deployments.
• Clear design writing and a habit of reviewing peers’ designs.

Preferred experience

• Reactive Java experience with WebFlux, Reactor, RxJava, or Vert.x is a plus.
• Telco/MNO integration experience is a plus.
• OAuth 2.0, JWT, SAML, FIDO, or WebAuthn experience is a plus.
• Experience in a regulated industry, with SLIs/SLOs and error budgets, Kafka in production, or Terraform is a plus.
