About the role

Develop and support enterprise-level applications for government programs.

Build secure, scalable, maintainable platform services across frontend, backend, API, workflow, integration, and data-access layers.

Collaborate with architects, analysts, UX, QA, DevOps, security teams, and other stakeholders.

Work arrangement and contract

  • The role is onsite in Toronto, Ontario, five days per week.
  • The contract runs from November 9, 2026, to September 28, 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain secure enterprise applications and Java microservices, APIs, and platform services.
  • Develop frontend, backend, workflow, middleware, integration, database, and data-access components.
  • Implement security protocols and gateways; build and maintain automated tests.
  • Participate in design reviews, code reviews, estimation, sprint planning, and release planning.
  • Troubleshoot scripts, deployments, migrations, and production issues; support post-implementation operations.
  • Collaborate across business and technical teams, document systems and deployments, and provide technical guidance and mentoring.

Must-have qualifications

  • 10+ years designing and developing large-scale, multi-client web applications or equivalent senior-level development experience.
  • Extensive hands-on Java experience with Oracle, SQL, or comparable relational databases; strong REST API and microservices experience.
  • Experience with JWT, OAuth 2.0, SSL certificates, secure communications, identity integration, databases, SQL tuning, middleware, and gateways.
  • Experience in data conversion, migration, enterprise integration, Agile delivery, automated testing, and Azure DevOps or comparable tools.
  • Experience with deployment, troubleshooting, technical documentation, and post-implementation support.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, refactoring, clean code, and structured development methodologies.

Additional role skills

  • Technical work includes Java, REST services, microservices, Oracle, SQL, security protocols, middleware, integrations, Azure DevOps, automated testing, and production support.
  • The role calls for written and verbal communication, analytical problem-solving, collaboration, adaptability, and deadline management.
