About the role

Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain accessible, responsive, user-friendly enterprise web applications for government programs.

Translate designs and user stories into reusable frontend components and integrate them with APIs, identity services, workflows, and enterprise platforms.

Collaborate with UX, product, business analysis, architecture, backend, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

  • Build secure, responsive frontend applications and reusable components using modern JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks.
  • Integrate with REST APIs, backend services, identity systems, workflows, notifications, and document services.
  • Develop automated tests and ensure compliance with AODA and applicable WCAG accessibility standards.
  • Participate in code reviews, planning, estimation, refinement, and release planning; use Azure DevOps or comparable tools.
  • Troubleshoot browser, performance, security, accessibility, deployment, and integration issues; support releases and stabilization.
  • Maintain application configuration, build, and installation scripts and prepare technical and support documentation.

Must-have qualifications

  • Extensive experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-client, Internet-ready web applications.
  • Strong hands-on experience with modern JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks and responsive, component-based interfaces.
  • Experience translating technical specifications and detailed designs into working, tested, maintainable applications.
  • Experience with structured and Agile development, Azure DevOps or comparable tools, unit testing, source control, and documentation.
  • Strong experience with REST APIs and web services, plus security gateways and protocols including OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSL certificates, middleware, and communications protocols.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns, refactoring, and clean-code principles.
  • Experience with relational or hierarchical databases, query languages, deployment, troubleshooting, and post-implementation support.

Technical skills

  • Frontend development: JavaScript, TypeScript, modern frameworks, responsive design, and component-based development.
  • API integration: REST APIs, RESTful web services, middleware, and backend integrations.
  • Security: OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSL certificates, identity and access services, and secure communications.
  • Accessibility: AODA, WCAG, and accessible application design.
  • Testing and tools: Azure DevOps or equivalent, source control, unit and integration testing, and deployment pipelines.
  • Database and support: relational and hierarchical databases, query languages, debugging, performance optimization, production support, and technical documentation.

Contract and work arrangement

Contract role running from November 9, 2026, to September 28, 2027.

Onsite in Toronto five days per week.
