Senior Estimation Engineer (Mechanical)

Role and location

Experience and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or an equivalent studies/experience combination.
• At least 10 years estimating heavy civil projects and previous estimating-department managerial experience.
• Job-site experience is an asset.
• Demonstrated intermediate-to-advanced understanding of estimating processes, requiring minimal direction and supervision.

Estimating expertise

• Advanced knowledge of EPC estimating methods, processes, procedures, estimate types, classifications, components, detail-level estimates, and design packages.
• Experience with lump-sum Design & Build and/or OOM estimates.
• Significant knowledge and experience in quantity take-offs, statistical analysis, cost and price analysis, and life-cycle cost analysis.
• Skilled in technical discipline processes, engineering drawings, quantity determinations, and mathematical and financial reports.

Construction and commercial knowledge

• Understands craft productivity, current market pricing in related areas, and construction practices in the local work region.
• Advanced knowledge of construction methods in the specialization, general understanding of other disciplines, and familiarity with engineering and construction codes and standards.
• Thorough understanding of cost indexing and escalation projection sources; understands and contributes to risk and contingency assessments.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; expert in discipline estimating applications and knowledgeable about commercial estimating systems such as Candy.

Pay

• Pay is up to AED 30,000 per month.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and support estimates for heavy civil projects using applicable estimating processes and methods.
• Develop detailed estimates and work with design packages, including lump-sum Design & Build and/or OOM estimates.
• Perform quantity take-offs, statistical analysis, cost and price analysis, and life-cycle cost analysis.
• Interpret engineering drawings and technical discipline processes to determine quantities and assess project costs.
• Assess craft productivity, market pricing, construction practices, methods, codes, and standards relevant to estimates.
• Apply cost indexing and escalation projections and contribute to risk and contingency assessments.
