The role reviews and approves electricity asset designs and checks quality and safety compliance.
Responsibilities
- Review substation, underground cable network, and overhead line designs from contractors, mega developers, and internal engineers.
- Complete assigned work efficiently and accurately, on time, and report progress.
- Support customer-facing transactions and service delivery.
- Review substation designs for distribution system compatibility.
- Prepare and coordinate RITs for new and modified substations with planning engineers.
- Check Preliminary Design Reports against Asset Management Directorate requirements.
- Analyze underground cable network designs for connections to the organization’s network.
- Propose overhead line networks for remote locations with the planning team.
- Inspect installation drawings, project sites, and contractor materials for specification compliance; provide approvals as appropriate.
- Supervise final substation and equipment inspections for readiness for testing and energization.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience in LV distribution planning or customer connections supplied from existing LV networks.
- Knowledge of LV load assessment, cable capacity, voltage considerations, supply-point selection, drawings, and connection requirements.
- Ability to apply company policies, procedures, controls, delegated authorities, and applicable requirements; prepare accurate reports and support customer transactions.
Preferred qualifications
- Exposure to utilities, infrastructure, and power projects.
- Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience with GIS, AutoCAD, SAP HANA, and quality assurance of LV designs and applications.
