  • Lead low-complexity engineering solutions using defined standards and governance.
  • Provide professional challenge and advice to internal stakeholders on high-quality, tested engineering solutions.
  • Conduct risk-based on-site monitoring and surveillance, resolving or escalating issues.
  • Apply engineering standards and recommend solutions to improve efficiency, safety and operating costs.
  • Provide technical recommendations and support continuous improvement, innovation, whole-life cost optimisation and root cause analysis.
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers, graduates and apprentice surveyors and provide performance feedback.

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • The posting identifies relevant built-environment professional qualifications or chartered status, including Registered Architect, Chartered Building Surveyor, Chartered Building Engineer or Chartered Builder; its wording combines 'ideally' with an essential label.
  • Architect candidates must be registered with the Architects Registration Board.
  • For other disciplines, the posting names relevant professional institution membership such as RICS, CIOB or CABE, or an internationally recognised equivalent; its wording combines 'ideally' with an essential label.
  • Good knowledge of built-environment legislation, technical standards, industry best practice, and health, safety and environmental considerations.
  • Knowledge of some of the design, construction, operation, maintenance and assessment of built-environment assets.
  • Ability to lead asset design, assess asset condition and undertake asset management.
  • Significant experience across several asset lifecycle areas; broad experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams is also listed, but the source text cuts off during this criterion.

Location and working arrangement

  • Based at Palestra, Southwark, with various locations across London.
  • Hybrid working provides a 50/50 split between office and home over a four-week period; arrangements may change with business requirements.
  • The role includes on-site risk-based monitoring and surveillance of works.
