Role overview

Automation systems and project delivery

• Assess ICS, DCS, process control, real-time plant information, and laboratory management systems for obsolescence, spare parts, vendor support, interoperability, and integration.
• Audit system performance and identify monitoring and improvement opportunities to support standards-compliant operation.
• Develop and update technical specifications and conduct economic feasibility studies.
• Prepare functional specifications, design and as-built documents, user manuals, and training materials for minor application modifications.
• Coordinate vendor support, modifications, and upgrades with site maintenance personnel.
• Support real-time process information and laboratory information management systems, optimization, alarm management, control loop performance monitoring, and higher-level MES applications.
• Develop scopes of work and tender documents and participate in technical bid evaluations.
• Support project implementation, installation, commissioning, and upgrades to meet schedule and budget.
• Plan and coordinate assigned-area work and develop staff through training.
• Contribute to budgets, work plans, cost control, performance objectives, continuous improvement, HSE compliance, and management reports.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Automation Engineering, or equivalent.
• At least 15 years of automation systems experience in a large industrial organization, covering design, installation, commissioning, operations, continuing maintenance, testing, and CS validation.
• Oil and gas industry experience is preferred.
• Experience in major EPC projects is sought.

Technical skills

• Relevant expertise includes process control system design, control and safety systems, commissioning, alarm management, SCADA and telemetry, and process control.
• Additional listed capabilities include process optimization, control loop monitoring, APC and multivariable control, operator training simulators, and plant information systems.

Project location

• The role is based at an Abu Dhabi site for a PMC project.
