Role overview

The Senior ELM - Developer Productivity role reports to a leader based in Toronto and works closely with the Quality and Delivery team.

The role owns Developer Experience and Release Engineering capabilities and leads a transformation toward a gated software delivery lifecycle that supports human and agentic development.

Architecture and delivery

  • Own architecture and delivery of Developer Experience and Release Engineering capabilities.
  • Design gates across Define, Build, Verify, Release, and Operate, including policy-as-code, contract testing, mutation scoring, and agent evaluation.
  • Support SLO-driven progressive delivery with error budgets and automated rollbacks.
  • Coordinate a shared gated SDLC roadmap with Quality and Delivery leaders and adjacent engineering teams.

Operational excellence

  • Assess existing practices, tooling, and workflows; identify friction and translate findings into prioritized plans.
  • Own planning and delivery outcomes, and apply governance, standards, and policy-as-code to shared tooling and pipelines.
  • Use delivery and quality measures such as change failure rate, lead time, deployment frequency, and MTTR to improve controls.
  • Manage delivery risks, release risks, and cross-team dependencies.

People leadership

  • Drive adoption of new standards and tools across teams and communicate plans and progress to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop engineers across Toronto and Bengaluru; set expectations, provide feedback, and manage performance and career growth.
  • Build an inclusive, collaborative team culture across time zones.

What the role requires

  • A record of Release Engineering transformation and a clear perspective on how the discipline should evolve.
  • Leadership of a globally distributed engineering team and ownership of architecture and delivery outcomes.
  • Ability to evaluate delivery and quality practices, establish automated gates, and use metrics for continuous improvement.
  • Clear communication and collaboration with engineering peers and senior leaders.

Work arrangement

  • The posting identifies the role as hybrid in Toronto.
