Senior Electrical Project Engineer

Role overview

Design and project coordination

• Perform calculations, equipment verification and specification, system design and layout, field investigations, and construction administration.
• Attend weekly and monthly meetings with contractors, subcontractors, and the client.
• Review shop drawings against design documents and local codes and standards, including DEWA, DM, ADM, and ADDC requirements.
• Coordinate construction with civil, electrical, mechanical, and controls engineers, document controllers, and CAD operators.
• Prepare contractor site instructions in accordance with the contract agreement.
• Participate in QA/QC processes for contractor staff.
• Review and approve RFIs, material submissions, shop drawings, method statements, and variations.

Site delivery and handover

• Verify drawing submissions, O&M documents, and as-built drawings with engineering management; ensure construction follows the signed drawing set and design intent.
• Conduct periodic site inspections for good practice, standards, design compliance, and material compliance.
• Create punch lists and ensure contractors address defects and shortcomings promptly.
• Support Uptime Institute facility certification where applicable and assist with final facility handover to the client.
• Advise the client on construction matters and perform other activities agreed between the client and the firm.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
• 10 years of consulting-firm experience and a background in MEP engineering.
• Data center design experience is required.
• Significant site experience on data center or critical facilities projects is sought.
• Already being in the UAE is preferable.
