Role overview

Experienced Senior Structural Designer using SmartPlant 3D (SP3D) to develop detailed structural layouts and 3D models for engineering and construction projects.

The role supports detailed engineering for ADNOC offshore projects, delivering accurate, clash-free, constructible designs aligned with project specifications and offshore requirements.

The position coordinates structural design with other disciplines and supports integration within complex offshore facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain SP3D models for offshore jackets, topsides, decks, modules, and support structures.
  • Produce GA, fabrication, and isometric drawings from SP3D models.
  • Check designs against ADNOC standards, international codes, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate with piping, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation teams to deliver integrated, clash-free designs.
  • Participate in model reviews, design review meetings, and 3D walkthroughs with clients and stakeholders.
  • Incorporate vendor data, engineering inputs, and site requirements into models.
  • Support constructability reviews and optimize designs for offshore fabrication and installation.
  • Resolve site queries, technical clarifications, and execution-stage design changes.
  • Maintain model integrity and data accuracy; mentor junior designers and uphold drafting standards.
  • Meet project schedules and milestones and support engineering-to-construction interface management.

Qualifications and experience

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of structural design and drafting experience in oil and gas.
  • Hands-on SmartPlant 3D (SP3D) expertise is mandatory.
  • Proficiency in related tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, Navisworks, and other 3D review platforms.
  • Experience with offshore structures including jackets, topsides, pipe racks, platforms, and modules.
  • Understanding of offshore design, fabrication methodologies, installation constraints, and applicable codes and standards.
  • Strong multidisciplinary coordination and communication skills, including client, vendor, and stakeholder interface.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced EPC/EPCM/PMC environment on large offshore projects.
  • ADNOC or similar Middle East offshore project experience is highly preferred; central engineering or shared services experience is advantageous.
