Senior Costing Accountant

Job purpose

Product costing and cost control

• Own product costing, including standard costs, bills of materials, routings, labor rates, and overhead allocations.
• Perform cost roll-ups and reviews, analyze actual-to-standard variances, and assess material use, labor efficiency, scrap, rework, and overhead.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities and support manufacturing efficiency improvements.

Inventory and financial reporting

• Manage inventory valuation, work-in-progress, production order settlements, and manufacturing inventory accounting.
• Review inventory movements and adjustments; support month-end and year-end close.
• Prepare manufacturing cost reports, inventory reconciliations, and management analyses.

Analysis and business partnering

• Analyze manufacturing variances and support budgets, forecasts, cost plans, and corrective actions.
• Partner with production and cross-functional teams on costing, inventory accuracy, and operational performance.
• Provide analysis for new products and process improvements and explain cost movements to management.

Controls and improvement

• Maintain costing and reconciliation documentation and support audits and inventory counts.
• Comply with accounting standards, company policies, internal controls, and relevant safety and quality procedures.
• Review processes and identify opportunities to improve controls, automate reporting, and strengthen data accuracy.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance or a relevant field.
• 4 to 6 years of work experience.
• Technical or functional competencies include financial accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting.
