Role overview

What you'll do

• Own and develop the compliance framework, including KYC/KYB, AML/CFT, sanctions, third-party due diligence, ethics, policies, and controls.
• Oversee risk-based compliance decisions and investigations and coordinate responses involving regulators, law enforcement, fraud, scams, and high-risk matters.
• Monitor compliance risks, drive remediation, and report to RiskCo, ExCo, and relevant Boards; oversee vendors, tooling, processes, and compliance awareness.
• Advise on corporate, commercial, and cross-border matters, including group structure, entity management, governance, transactions, and expansion.
• Provide legal guidance across jurisdictions, including DIFC/UAE operations; coordinate external counsel and support Board, shareholder, and statutory matters.
• Advise People/HR across the employment lifecycle, including workforce structures, contracts, policies, employee relations, investigations, and terminations.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements and advise on contractual and commercial risk.
• Advise on data protection and privacy, shape global policy, translate legal requirements into controls, and mitigate material risks.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of relevant legal experience.
• A university law degree (LLB, JD, or equivalent) and a professional legal qualification or admission to practise in at least one recognized jurisdiction.
• Strong corporate, commercial, and employment law experience in an international cross-border environment.
• Experience advising People/HR and organizations operating through multiple entities and jurisdictions.
• Experience owning or operating compliance frameworks and practical knowledge of KYC/KYB, AML/CFT, sanctions, and third-party due diligence.
• Strong commercial contracting, negotiation, and stakeholder-management skills; sound knowledge of international data protection and privacy requirements.
• Sound legal judgment and ability to translate complex requirements into practical, business-oriented solutions.

Nice to have

• Experience with DIFC/UAE law and regulations or DeFi/crypto.
• Experience scaling compliance frameworks across jurisdictions or interacting with regulators, law enforcement, or external investigators.
• Experience with international restructurings, investments, or M&A.
• ICA, ACAMS, CIPP, or an equivalent compliance/privacy qualification.
