Senior CI Engineer

Position summary

Safety

• Comply with environment, health and safety legislation, company policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
• Ensure improvement activities include risk assessments and involve HSE and operational owners before changes are implemented.
• Support accident investigations with structured root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Lead 6S assessments, coaching and improvement planning; support area managers in achieving and sustaining the corporate target of 4 or above.

Quality and cost improvement

• Lead quality improvement projects with Quality and Engineering, aligned to aerospace standards, customer requirements and approved change controls.
• Improve Right First Time, defect prevention and Cost of Poor Quality through structured problem-solving.
• Identify cost reductions through waste elimination, improved flow, productivity and process capability.
• Agree savings baselines and costs with Finance and process owners, track realised benefits, and develop value-stream maps and business cases.

Project delivery and people

• Lead projects from charter and baseline through implementation, benefit validation and handover.
• Develop process maps, layouts, standard operating procedures and control plans; translate Hoshin Kanri priorities into measurable project plans.
• Lead reviews, maintain risks and actions, escalate constraints, present progress and benefits, and complete post-implementation reviews.
• Mentor CI engineers, deliver Lean awareness and problem-solving training, and support continuous improvement capability development.

Essential criteria

• Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt as a minimum, with evidence of applying DMAIC to completed improvement work.
