The Senior Buyer – Home Décor is responsible for developing and executing product buying strategies to drive sales, profitability, and brand positioning. This role involves sourcing, selecting, and managing a diverse range of home décor products aligned with market trends and customer preferences.
Key ResponsibilitiesBuying & Product Strategy
- Develop seasonal buying plans and product assortments
- Identify emerging trends in home décor, furnishings, and lifestyle products
- Select products that align with brand identity and target customer
Vendor & Sourcing Management
- Source and negotiate with domestic and international suppliers
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships
- Ensure product quality, pricing, and delivery timelines meet standards
Financial & Commercial Performance
- Manage budgets, margins, and pricing strategies
- Monitor sales performance and optimize product mix accordingly
- Analyze key metrics such as sell-through, stock turnover, and profitability
Inventory Management
- Plan and control inventory levels to avoid overstock or stockouts
- Collaborate with supply chain and warehouse teams for efficient replenishment
- Manage markdowns and promotions strategically
Market & Trend Analysis
- Conduct competitor benchmarking and market research
- Attend trade shows, exhibitions, and supplier visits
- Stay updated on global home décor trends, materials, and consumer behavior
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with merchandising, marketing, and visual merchandising teams
- Support product launches, campaigns, and in-store displays
- Coordinate with e-commerce teams for online assortment and performance
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Interior Design, or related field
- 5–10+ years of buying experience, preferably in home décor or lifestyle retail
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Excellent analytical and commercial acumen
- Deep understanding of retail trends and consumer preferences
- Proficiency in retail systems, Excel, and data analysis tools
