Senior Buyer in Serco's IT Procurement team, reporting to the Head of IT Procurement.
Leads strategic sourcing, procurement projects, supplier engagement, and commercial value delivery across the organisation.
Location and working arrangements
- Home-based role with travel across the UK, including regular visits to offices in Solihull and London.
Responsibilities
- Lead procurement projects valued above £250,000 and support Category Managers on complex projects exceeding £1 million.
- Develop sourcing strategies and run end-to-end RFx processes through evaluation, negotiation, and contract award.
- Conduct market analysis and supplier due diligence; negotiate terms to maximise value and mitigate risk.
- Build stakeholder and supplier relationships and support supplier performance improvement.
- Maintain governance documentation and pipeline reporting; promote compliance and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and support Buyers in delivering procurement activities.
Requirements
- Degree-level education or equivalent experience; a business-related qualification is ideal.
- CIPS qualified or working toward CIPS accreditation.
- At least four years of procurement experience in a commercial or corporate environment.
- Strong category management, strategic sourcing, contract management, sourcing, and negotiation experience.
- Strong stakeholder-management, organisation, analytical, communication, and influencing skills.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills and ability to learn new systems.
- eSourcing platform experience is advantageous.
Compensation and benefits
- Salary up to £55,000 DOE; no pay cadence is stated.
