Full Job Posting

Location and work arrangement

  • The role is based in London and is identified as hybrid.

Role overview

Join the Architecture team to deliver technical design work for rail infrastructure projects, including station upgrades, depots, operational buildings, and railway estate improvements.

The role focuses on accurate, coordinated, compliant construction information for safety-critical and regulated rail schemes.

Work spans stations, depots, operational facilities, and trackside buildings.

Technical delivery

  • Develop architectural models, drawings, schedules, and specifications coordinated with structural, civil, MEP, and railway disciplines.
  • Prepare, check, and coordinate technical information; respond to design queries; resolve clashes; and translate design intent into construction-ready documents.
  • Meet programme requirements, manage workload, support reporting, and contribute to consistent project delivery.
  • Support design workshops, site visits, and timely responses to queries from clients, operators, engineers, and project teams.

Coordination and improvement

  • Coordinate information across disciplines and maintain clear communication with project teams.
  • Support digital workflow improvements, technical efficiency, and sustainable design considerations.
  • Identify issues early, propose practical solutions, and contribute technical inputs to fee proposals, tenders, and delivery strategies.
  • Informally guide junior colleagues when needed.

Mandatory requirements

  • Strong post-qualification experience producing detailed architectural design information in regulated environments.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation OpenBuildings Designer and ProjectWise.
  • Ability to produce accurate, detailed design information to a high standard.
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to manage competing priorities, and understanding of construction legislation, compliance, and industry standards.
  • Experience in transport, industrial, or rail-related environments provides a foundation for safety-critical delivery.

Desirable experience

  • Rail project experience, including station layouts, depots, operational facilities, or other railway assets, is valuable.
  • Experience with HS2, Transport for London, Network Rail standards, CDM requirements, and technical assurance processes is beneficial.
  • Station design, depot buildings, operational railway facilities, rail estate projects, or familiarity with the Building Safety Act are advantageous.
  • Revit, BIM workflows, and complex project coordination experience are beneficial.

Communication and collaboration

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation, workshops, site visits, and project queries.
  • Collaborate with clients, operators, engineers, and internal teams; maintain well-structured information and timely delivery.
  • The position is not leadership-focused, though informal guidance to junior colleagues may be provided.
