Purpose and Scope
Tetra Tech is seeking a science graduate for a full-time, permanent Extraction Chemist role in its GLP analytical team in Bedford.
The role supports regulated studies conducted under Good Laboratory Practice.
The position involves preparing and extracting crop and environmental samples and maintaining laboratory records.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare and extract crop samples including oranges, wheat, and beans, as well as environmental matrices such as soil and water.
- Receive, record, label, store, and track study samples.
- Operate commercial laboratory equipment and perform calibration and basic maintenance.
- Prepare reagents, standard solutions, and quality control samples.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous GLP records and support regulated study delivery.
- Follow health, safety, quality, and compliance procedures.
- Work with analysts, study directors, and quality assurance colleagues.
Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a BSc degree or equivalent in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail, organization, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Laboratory experience, sample extraction knowledge, and understanding of GLP are desirable.
Work Pattern
- The role is based at Tetra Tech’s Bedford laboratory and follows a Monday to Friday schedule from 9:00 to 17:00.
Compensation
- Salary starts at £26,318, with benefits, training, development, and career progression opportunities.
